ARM Arch linux and traffic control

Postby majkelos » Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:40 am

Hi everyboody,

I would like to install arch linux on my GoFlex Home, what i'm after is the Advenced traffic control. So my question is whether the linux kernel is supporting these options??

Cheers

Are you talking about QOS? it is supported and if you know how to use it.

Hi there,

I'm talking about something like this: http://kindlund.wordpress.com/2007/11/1 ... -in-linux/

i'm about to use open vpn connection to hide my traffic, but still want to access my drive from the interent through normal connection to my router and for that i understand i would need the traffic control, as outlined in this article.

Currently on my goflex it is not supported in kernel and i figured that it might be good time to switch to another system.

Cheers

It's compiled into the kernel actually. The only tool you need is iproute2 which you can install with "pacman -Sy iproute2". Also, the guide is pretty old so some ways may be deprecated and you should look for new ways of doing things. This is routing and not traffic control though. Traffic control would be prioritizing different kind of packets = QOS.
