My original [January] install of Arch and CUPS worked and I was able to print a test page successfully, any printer I installed on my network did not need a local version of the driver installed, and I was able to print from AirPrint.
I do not remember why, but I ended up doing a complete reinstall without a backup of course of a working install, and of course now the opposite is true. I have used Google without success to find out the reason but have had no success. I can still successfully install the printer through hp-setup, it appear in CUPS, but there is no luck in printing a successful test page. When I print the self-test page I am presented with the error of "If you can read this, you are using the wrong driver for your printer". Although I am using the hp c4200 series driver.
I have used the ArchWiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cups#CUPS_stops_working backwards and forward, reinstalled cups and hplip, and still nothing.
My wife has gotten really used to printing from her iPad and to avoid the "extra conversation" I just ordered the Latronix Print Server from Amazon. I would love to cancel the order before it ships, if a solution could be found.
Any help or a point in the right direction would be great.
