As soon as we receive them, we'll get to work on them.

Hi,

are there any updates about Cubieboard2 Support. I just got one and wasn't aware that it isn't supported yet  . Is anyone working on the port to the A20? Although my time is very limited I coulddo some tasks.

For the moment, a BYOK approach should work fine. Let me know if there is a need to bump the linux-sun*i kernels.

I got it running in a quick and dirty manner. I just used an existing debian image created by a sunxi developer and put the arch root fs for Cubieboard onto the the sd card. After that I overwrote the /boot directory by the original one of the Debian image.

It looks like alarm comes up well but I don't think that this is a very good solution.

I believe that's all you can do right now, use the same hwpack built for the wheezy and use the sunxi version of ArchLinux ARM.

The sh script able to do this is here
https://raw.github.com/linux-sunxi/sunxi-bsp/master/scripts/sunxi-media-create.sh

The hwpack file you can use with that script is here
http://dl.linux-sunxi.org/users/hramrach/cubieboard2-linux3.3_hwpack.tar.xz

Problem is that the ArchLinux we need is not here yet:
http://os.archlinuxarm.org/os/

The Cubieboard 1 works great with the sun4i version but Cubieboard 2 with A20 is part of the sun7i family so actually you are running A20 on top of a build for A10.

I could not successfully build the repo against cb2 yet but I do hope somebody will be so kind here to push the repo and put sun7i version of ArchLinux up in the repo soon.

Sorry I could not help any further than this (however, if anyone can tell me how to build ArchLinux from the cubieboard2 itself I'll be glad to do that and push the rootfs in the repo)

FYI ... Fedora now supports Cubieboard2 via uBoot:
http://cubieboard.org/2013/07/19/fedora ... available/

this means that HW should work through the used fex/bin and they probably managed to use same sun5i to run the sun7i rootfs (since the image is one and supports both A10 and A20)

I am going to try Fedora first then I'll try to see if with same hwpack I can put Arch Linux there too, which would be ideal.

Also, FYI again, Marsboard with A20 are available again now, it would be very cool to have Arch either in CB2 or MB with A20.

Best Regards

I also got a Cubieboard A20 and naively thought that being a drop in replacement for the A10 it would boot Arch with the standard bootloader and rootfs tarballs.. live and learn! ;)

The only thing I get on the serial port when booting a uSD card prepared with the instructions at http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv7 ... cubieboard is:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'U-Boot SPL 2012.10-04277-g7aa9f04 (Mar 18 2013 - 23:48:11)
DRAM: 32MB
')

Aaaand then it hangs. Yes I made all the mistakes just as described. Except that my first partition starts at 2048 * 512bytes, but that kinda came from some hardwired braincells by now. I'll try and get it running though and put up some tarballs if I do. Unfortunately I'm out at sea on an island with only a BeagleBone Black as my only Linux machine (and it's also my 3G router) so experimentation with new uSD contents is not so easy as it means tearing down the whole Internet access here

I agree about the documentation comments, but I appreciate even more the effort to get things working. The docs will follow...
