help with Buffalo wireless USB adapter

Postby permitivity » Sun Jul 28, 2013 4:22 am

Hello,
I got a wireless USB adapter that 802.11G working, but couldn't get a Buffalo wireless USB adapter to work. I'll try to provide relevant information:

1) Archlinuxarm 3.1.10 running on a pogoplug v2
2) Buffalo wireless USB adapter, WLI-UC-GNHP. Ralink RT3070, and uses rt2800usb driver, which should be included in ALM, I think.
3) The output from lsusb
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'B')us 001 Device 004: ID 0411:0158 BUFFALO INC. (formerly MelCo., Inc.) WLI-UC-GNHP Wireless LAN Adapter

On this installation, I can stick my 802.11G wireless adapter in and it connects to my network no problem. With the buffalo 802.11n, no connection. I used info on this blog page to setup the older G adapter, this qnology blog: http://blog.qnology.com/2013/03/tutorial-pogoplug-e02-with-arch-linux.html

My understanding of how the current wireless adapter works is pretty fuzzy...but something to do with wireless_tools, netctl, "ifplugd", and "wpa_actiond".

4) dmesg output:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '

I would try linux-kirkwood package if your U-Boot is the latest (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5623)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I') would try linux-kirkwood package if your U-Boot is the latest (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5623)

Sorry, I'm still pretty new to this. Is the "linux-kirkwood" package an OS like ArchLinuxArm, just different? Or is it a program that you install in ArchLinuxArm?

When I try to run
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'g')rep -a --null-data U-Boot /dev/mtd0ro

I get

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'g')rep: invalid option -- u

In linux world an OS is Linux/GNU. Linux part = kernel, GNU part = tools and software, for short people just call it linux, but kernel is not an entire OS. linux-kirkwood will give you a new kernel possibly with the support for the adapter that you have. When did you first install ALARM on your pogoplug? if within the last year you have the latest U-Boot and can just "pacman -Sy linux-kirkwood"
