E02 Lost IP Address

Postby PhatMuffinMan » Tue Sep 24, 2013 11:13 pm

I have my E02 all set up and forgot to set up a static IP address. So now it looks like my PS3 is using the IP address that was assigned to my pogoplug. I have ALARM installed and setup on a 8GB flash drive. So now I cannot connect to it.

Is there anyway I can ssh in and set up a static IP address?

DHCP reservations

Does it not show up on the router at all?

It does show up when I do not have the ALARM usb plugged in. I am able to SSH into the "stock" pogoplug.

I am looking for a way to set up a static address on the ALARM setup. Can I plug in the usb thumb after I log into the stock pogoplug and mount the USB and make changes that way?

I am not sure on which file I need to edit on the USB to make the static address. Also It appears I am only able to use the VI editor which sucks compared to nano.

My syntax is rusty....

Does anyone know which file I need to edit on the alarm usb thumb so I can make it a static ip of 10.10.10.103?

I was able to edit the eth0 profile, which I believe is my default. I was able to set it to 10.10.10.103. Which is the address I want to use.

But it is still not working. It will not boot when the ALARM usb is plugged in.

This is what the eth0 profile looks like

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Description='A basic static ethernet connection'
Interface=eth0
Connection=ethernet
IP=static
Address=('10.10.10.103/32')
#Routes=
Gateway=('10.10.10.10')
DNS=('Gateway')

## For IPv6 autoconfiguration
#IP6=stateless

## For IPv6 static address configuration
#IP6=static
#Address6=('1234:5678:9abc:def::1/64' '1234:3456::123/96')
#Routes6=('abcd::1234')
#Gateway6='1234:0:123::abcd'
')

Hi, i always fix this on the router side
First, if you can fw_setenv the mac address, then go ahead with that.

If you can't or you don't know how to do that, you can set E02 "Automatically get IP via DHCP"

Check with router page, there is a page showing client that is currently connected

In that page, you obtain the mac address, current ip address and the lease time that is assigned to the E02

Then in the DHCP reservation page in the router, set your desired IP to the mac address of the E02

IMHO, it is always better to use DHCP reservation instead of using static IP =)
