Enable HW clock Zyxel NSA325?

Postby jeajea » Mon Oct 14, 2013 11:42 pm

How do I enable the Zyxel NSA325 hardware real time clock?
Hwclock gives this error

hwclock
hwclock: Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method.
hwclock: Use the --debug option to see the details of our search for an access method.

Double check the package vs uname -a, it should be a rtc-pcf8563 on the i2c bus.

Add these modules to modules-load.d:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
# cat /etc/modules-load.d/rtc.conf
i2c-mv64xxx
rtc-pcf8563
')

I created /etc/modules-load.d/rtc.conf and added
i2c-mv64xxx
rtc-pcf8563

The hwclock commands work.
However the clock still reverts to Jan 1970 on restart until NTP updates it.
Do I need to install a package or ?

I may just have to build those into the kernel. We'll see.

I've changed them to be built-in (=y in the .config), and that will pop out of the builder within the hour.

Is the new build done?
How do I download/install it?
Should I keep or remove
/etc/modules-load.d/rtc.conf and added

It has been done. You just install it ...

They won't be modules any more, so you can remove that.

Pacman –Syu copied the new image to /dev/sda2/boot and left the old image on /dev/sda1.

I moved the drive to my Ubuntu PC, backed up the old image and copied the new image to the boot partition.
After reboot
uname -a
Linux zy01 3.11.5-2-ARCH #1 PREEMPT Tue Oct 15 11:35:55 CDT 2013 armv5tel GNU/Linux
[root@zy01 ~]#
However the date is still Jan 1970 until updated by NTP

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
# dmesg | grep -i rtc
[ 15.308629] rtc-mv rtc-mv: internal RTC not ticking
[ 18.858219] drivers/rtc/hctosys.c: unable to open rtc device (rtc0)
[ 20.687373] rtc-pcf8563 0-0051: chip found, driver version 0.4.3
[ 20.695625] rtc-pcf8563 0-0051: rtc core: registered rtc-pcf8563 as rtc0
')

I see the problem there, not sure how to fix said problem, but..
