Network problems due to last GLIBC update?

Postby hp4 » Wed Jan 22, 2014 11:46 am

Yesterday I started my regular system update via pacman on my headless Raspi and noticed that glibc was updated. After reboot I was not able to connect. After attaching a terminal checking the system yielded:

- netctl doesn't work anymore, I'm not able to configure the eth0 Interface
- the shell command 'find' doesn't work anymore

In each case I get the error message: "sanity check of the fnmatch () library function failed.
This probably indicates that the problem has been introduced by the new glibc update.

Does anybody know about this problem or how to fix it?

I don't know what happened during the pacman-update but looking into the sources of the find-utility showed that the system was not able to correctly handle lower- and upper-case letters when searching files.

This led to the idea to run "locale-gen" again which normally is executed during Linux installation. After rebooting the network came up again. Obviously the networking software is using the same library elements as the find-utility does.
