Invalid: linux-sun7i vs linux-armv7 kernels on pcduino3&HDMI

Postby jernst » Sun Mar 01, 2015 9:35 pm

If I run linux-sun7i, my HDMI monitor says "out of range" after u-boot.
If I run linux-armv7, my HDMI monitor is fine.

What are the differences between those two kernels, and how does that affect my HDMI display?

Llinux-armv7 is mainline from kernel.org almost without any patchhes
Linux-sun7i is with patches to support allwinner SoCs

...one might add, that installing the rc kernel will at least get you hdmi output...

On the other hand, I am sure alarm will get a 3.19 Kernel soon anyways, so it should be fine to have the stock armv7 kernel in the near future

Turns out the reason is that the linux-sun7i kernel doesn't boot at all! No wonder my monitor is confused. I'll close this and create separate post instead.
