Unable to install Linux header for current kernel with pacma

Postby EmbeddedGuy » Wed Aug 05, 2015 2:33 pm

I have installed kernel version 3.16.1-1 but i am unable to install the linux headers, as pacman attempts to install the latest version. How do i install the right kernel headers? I am using a UDOO Quad.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# uname -r
3.16.1-1-ARCH

# pacman -S linux-armv7-headers

Are they not already in your apparently outdated image?

Can you not update your kernel as-is?

Those package versions are not part of the package name.

I am attempting to install a realtek driver which is coming up with this error:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# make
make ARCH=armv7l CROSS_COMPILE= -C /lib/modules/3.16.1-1-ARCH/build M=/opt/rtl8812au modules
make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/lib/modules/3.16.1-1-ARCH/build'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'modules'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/lib/modules/3.16.1-1-ARCH/build'
Makefile:1051: recipe for target 'modules' failed
make: *** [modules] Error 2')

but /usr/lib/modules/3.16.1-1-ARCH/ build is empty..

I would rather not upgrade my kernel right now as i don't have any time to clean up if any errors occur.

I am basically afraid some of the things will break in my Linux system, and therefor id rather not do this as i have a tight deadline on my project for tommorow. I hope it makes sense?

You're going to have to get that package version from someone else. That is not long in the repos, and is created with the kernel package itself, as a subpackage.
