ntp-4.2.8p6 on armv7h

Postby dk23 » Sat Mar 26, 2016 5:43 pm

Tried to build ntp-4.2.8p6 on armv7h (BBB and RPi-2) using abs/extra/ntp.
I edited PKGBUILD to change the arch to armv7h, (the only edit)
makepkg -s executed without errors

however when I try to execute ntpd I get seg fault core dump

If I install by pacman -S ntp all is ok.

FYI: my goal is to build with NMEA and ATOM enabled,
but first I wanted to build a 'stock' ntpd to show that the process was successful.

https://archlinuxarm.org/packages/armv7h/ntp/files

add your options to the configure line, then build.

Edit, also change arch to 'any'

while in will work if you use 'any' for architecture on this device, it is bad practice. 'Any' should only be used for packages that will work after compilation on any architecture (bash scripts for example). You can use makepkg -A also. Make sure you have base-devel installed.

makepkg -A and arch=any with same results. Both the BBB and RPi-2 are new installations with base-devel and updated via pacman -Syu.
