I used a CA-42 Cable and had no serial output either. Without Uboot there is no chance to have a working serial connection anymore. As far as I found out, this is not a standard JTAG pinout used in the Pogo Pro boards. If JTAG ist enabled by default maybe it is possible to find at least the Test Data IN and OUT with an oscilloscope. How do you enable JTAG by default? Is it like bridging two of the pins?

I did some basic connection tests with my equipment an gave the pins a number for the identication. Nothing special and not really amazing:

1 - GND
2 - 3.3V (connected to Pin4 of J3)
3
4
5
6
7 - GND

8 - GND
9
10
11 - GND
12 - GND
13 - 3.3V (connected to Pin4 of J3)
14 - GND

So, Pin 3,4,5,6,9,10 remains unknown at the moment (for me!).

Because of less experiance I'm not able to find out where the other pins go to, but there is no direct connection to flash (U5).

Maybe someone is able to compare the B04/B03/P21 to an old v2 Plug with a known JTAG Connector

First of all, you can add me to the list of those with a bricked B04 plug :-/
I really hoped that we could debrick the device via serial.
Does everybody agree that using serial is not an option at all - or is there anyone of the experienced devs that would oppose this notion?
Also, since we do not have a proper jtag pinout, I have no clue how most people without smd soldering skills should get proper access to the JTAG.
Also, what is the experience of the forum veterans regarding possible help by CloudEngines themselves?
Maybe they could at least provide us with proper info on the JTAG pin assignments? Has anybody tried asking CloudEngines already?

I'll hope you guys find some JTAG pins. If nobody can't find it, I'm gonna build the JTAG Finder to detect the pins.

But first I'm gonna enjoy my vacation. I'll be back in two weeks.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('elementz', 'D')oes everybody agree that using serial is not an option at all - or is there anyone of the experienced devs that would oppose this notion?

If you performed (or rather tried to perform) the Arch Linux ARM install for the Pink V2 model with the "force install" parameter then your u-boot is fubar and JTAG is the only way to revive it. If you performed the Pro/Video model install, then u-boot should still be intact and a serial connection should work to replace the bad kernel.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('elementz', 'A')lso, since we do not have a proper jtag pinout, I have no clue how most people without smd soldering skills should get proper access to the JTAG.

Even if you identify the JTAG pads and have a JTAG cable, you will still need JTAG software that supports the PLX NAS7820 SoC and the NAND. As far as I know, and I could be wrong of course, that does not exist (yet). I could not even find a public datasheet for the damn thing.

The problem with the datasheets is, that they want an NDA. Otherwise you have only access to a pdf file with features of it.
Yesterday I wrote an e-mail to the support Team of the Pogoplug service. They answered, that they want to forward my mail to their engineers. It is supposed to take one or two days but maybe they help us with the JTAG pinout.

They just might, but don't assume much after all, you're asking about hacking their product :p

We (Arch Linux ARM) has obtained an NDA for the spec's, and we're working on obtaining an NDA for their sources so that we might manage to get our hands on their "offically" updated kernel, and possibly some information that will help with the JTAG. Obviously, we can't share the originals, and plenty of the contents, but we'll be able to make some pointers along the way.

I am assuming you never got any information.

The only information I got was a Link where the UART Pinout is explained. Too bad that I have a brick here now. When I have more time I will try to connect my Buspirate to it. Maybe I can make it work by testing it this way.

I will see what I can find in the PLX documentation, but since this is not the standard connector type, I can't exactly speak to it.
