[Solved] PI4 with 4GB ram is not starting with aarch64

Postby peter75 » Tue Nov 15, 2022 9:59 pm

Hi

I am following installation instruction
But my RPI4 is not starting.

So I did plug monitor over hdmi and keyboard over USB.
Pi did stack at U-BOOT, I did take photo and rewrite text, here it is:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Net: eth0: ethernet@7d580000
PCIe BRCM: link up, 5.0 Gbps x1 (SSC)
starting USB...
Bus xhci_pci: Register 5000420 NbrPorts 5
Starting the controller
USB XHCI 1.00
scanning bus xhci_pci for devices... 3 USB Device(s) found
scanning usb for storage devices... 0 Storage Device(s) found
Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0
U-Boot> th0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0:
eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0:
eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0:
eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0: eth0:
')

It looks like it is stack in loop, I can see that after last "eth0" is something overriding ...

thank you for help

here is photo of that screen

I did flash Raspberry OS to another SD card, I choose lite 64big edition.
2022-09-22-raspios-bullseye-arm64-lite.img

That start ok, so I did run $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'sudo rpi-eeprom-update')

Then I did reflash alarm image to first SD to be sure that I have original image there.
RPI did stop at U-Boot prompt

so I was not sure what that mean, just type help and hit enter and get help screen.
ok
so I did type boot and hit enter, RPI did start to boot and alarm is running.

just question: why it is waiting when it say autoboot is 0?

thanks

I was happy only for little while.

I did run pacman -Syu and after reboot RPI is stuck at u-boot same way as at beginning of this thread.

To be sure that my SD is ok I decided to flash manjaro { Manjaro-ARM-minimal-rpi4-22.10.img.xz } and try to boot.
Well, it is working. I am using it for a while now, several restart and still ok.

thanks to @pezz for steps { provided in this comments } how to chroot to alarm on ma laptop I was able to install kernel and bootloader which are provided by raspberry.

I did run this command $this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -S --needed linux-rpi raspberrypi-bootloader raspberrypi-firmware')

and after that my rpi is starting OK.
