roc-send - missing shared libraries libsox.so.3

Postby pejobo » Fri Feb 06, 2026 5:48 pm

Streaming sound via pipewire is working, but calling roc-send directly fails:
$ roc-send
roc-send: error while loading shared libraries: libsox.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
$ which roc-send
/usr/bin/roc-send
$ file /usr/bin/roc-send
/usr/bin/roc-send: ELF 64-bit LSB pie executable, ARM aarch64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib/ld-linux-aarch64.so.1, BuildID[sha1]=b902d6020cbfefbb5e480fbc8aeb2f68e03a1312, for GNU/Linux 3.7.0, stripped
$ pacman -Qs roc-toolkit
local/roc-toolkit 0.4.0-1
Real-time audio streaming over the network
Is this an upstream bug?

No, it is noted sox is optional. Install sox

sox provides libsox.s, which is a symbolic link chain to libsox_ng.so.3.0.0
if I create a symbolic to this with the expected name roc-send crashes on start up.

I'd do PKGBUILD on roc-send with the new sox distro and see if it'd link it.

I could definitely do this, but I brought this up here because I wanted to know if this is something I should report upstream.
Seems like I have to set up an Arch installation on x86 for testing this..
