Can install calibre

Postby Iseman » Fri Jul 08, 2011 9:33 pm

Sorry for the newb problems! I have a limited knowledge of linux (most of it learned from this board and setting up my pogo!) I am trying to setup a Calibre content server. I cannot find a walkthrough or any information on this. ( I am not sure how much I like the new site, looks great, I feel like I Cant find anything!) When I attempt to install the package, calibre, i get the error cannot resolve the dependency "cherrypy"

After that I ran the pacman -Sy python2-cherrypy

As I was looking around i found the plugui ( I have ADD!) I noticed that it also uses cherrypy. Plugui works but I still cant get calibre to work.

I went to the calibre site and noticed...

1. Make sure your system has python ≥ 2.7.1 not 3.x

Is anyone currently running calibre? Can you run it with Python newer than 2.7.1?

I dont want to downgrade python as it MAY have other apps dependant upon it.

Note: I am currently running version 3.2
Thanks again for all the help!

Reinstalled python2, still can resolve the dependency cherrypy. Was a package renamed and calibre package doesnt see it? I noticed that if I do a pacman -Ss cherrypy it comes back with python2-cherrypy not just cherrypy.

Well a "pacman -Ss calibre" shows the package as just calibre so I ran a "pacman -Sy calibre"

tritron: are you running python above 2.7?

The calibre build has been broken for us for a while, wasn't aware people were even using it. I'll work on getting an updated version into the repo.

If you have any modifications you made to the PKGBUILD I'd love to see them. We prefer to have actual packages released through the build system, since it ensures a level of quality control and consistency.
