move swap file to usb hard drive

Postby nolook » Mon Aug 01, 2011 12:01 am

i made great progress and have sabnzbd, samba and dlna working great on my pink pogo...might even add the torrent client later...im using a sandisc 4 gb usb stick and a wd passport 500gb usb hd...

also made a swap file but i believe its on the usb memory stick and not my usb ntfs hard drive? is it better to delete the swap partition and make a new one on my usb hd? its path is /media/New_Volume/ and is sdb1 thanks

Swap file or partition?
You don't need a partition, search the forum for swapon, v easy to do.

If it is just a file, then all you should have to do is a mv command to move the file, and update /etc/fstab. Changing out for the actual location of course.

mv /my/swap/file.swp /new/swap/file.swp
