Looks like over at debian they figured out the bug: debian bug 757037.

I will test this out tonight. If it works I will submit as a pull request.

armv5 uses upstream archlinux lzo package so this would be a modification to get a correct armv5 package.

If that is the problem (and reading the link it really seems it is), then the right place to open a ticket is https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs I believe, as it is where the PKGBUILDs for the arm version of Archlinux are mantained. Upstream they support only i686 and x86_64 architectures.

Yes you can open a ticket. Or you can fork the repository, make your changes and submit a pull request as outlined here, which is what I am doing.

Well crap, I don't have an armv6 board to test with. I have armv5 and armv7. Guess I'll be opening a ticket instead.

I only have an arm5 (Pogoplug4), so I can't help :(
I can confirm that the issue is arm specific, though, as I have exactly same configuration on an i686 PC (same kernel version, same openvpn version, same lzo version) and it works perfectly there.

New package will be in the repo shortly so you can upgrade for the fix. As far as the debian bug states, only armv5 is affected.

lzo-2.08-3.1 is now in the armv5 repo. I have upgraded and can confirm it works with openvpn. Thanks to leming for fixing it so quickly!
